Where are discrimination cases heard?
On the eight grounds excluding gender, discrimination cases first go before the Equality Tribunal. Gender discrimination cases are brought directly to the Circuit Court or to the Equality Tribunal. An applicant may choose to bring a claim directly to the Circuit Court in a gender discrimination case and there is no limit on the amount that may be awarded by way of compensation.
